This missing airline flight filter: minimize time spent in a specific country.
In this case, I want to minimize time spent in the US according to its rules which mean you are on US soil counts until you arrive on non-US territory (which includes all time in ports + time in the air/sea). I care a bit less about price & long stopovers, so long as that stopover is in another country so the US presence check timer can stop as soon as possible. It also seems take time of arrival locally so crossing the international date line so if flying westward to Asia you can spend entire days “in the US” due to time zones.
Without many Asian flights I would want originating out of Canada, this also means that, unfortunately, the way to minimize this is flying a European or UK airline. European airline food is absolutely disgusting (where Asian & Middle Eastern is quite good while actually offering green tea)—& the airports are more expensive just to temporarily exist in while requiring outlet types I don’t have to keep a device charge topped off. It would be worth it if I could save on taxes, but boy howdy, would that experience add insult to injury.
330 days one must be out of the US to still get access to FEIE. #usexpat
