Ted LemonIsn't it illegal to have a popup that says "Megacorp 7 cares about your privacy" if they so manifestly don't that they need a cookie warning popup? The FTC in the U.S. has rules about deceptive advertising, and the EU does too. These are false and misleading claims, pure and simple.

It's original intent was well-meaning: Prevent apps from messing with user defaults, like the browser or installing unwanted extensions or toolbars.
Linux doesn't have any of this, AFAIK. Malicious software could change all sorts of user defaults. This could become a real problem with its growing popularity. 🤔
