#cybersecurity experts please comment is this just an urban legend or is it true. Web search is a spaghetti monster of differing opinion, mostly non-expert spec.
The claim is roughly to the effect that Internet meme that claims that Apple’s new AI features in iOS 18—and possibly earlier versions updated to 18.1—can scan or access Signal messages and read your content unless you disable the AI. Kind of reminds me of all the virus alerts that used to flood the net as a sort of self-replicating spam.
Even the National Lawyers Guild folks have weighed in with inconclusive and conflicting information. I am deep in the space of activists concerned with the matter but none of us have the #infosec expertise to really know what to believe here
