Not a single day of national strike action has been called since March 22, despite a ballot in April returning an 85.6 percent vote to strike.

@alexprichard My first thought is: "we will get a trash offer from #UCEA in the next round if we don't", which is understandable. But strike-loss & higher pay-rise might negate each other. And it doesn't solve the institutional inequity problem...
@alexprichard Cannot imagine union relations with #UCEA getting any better while the UK still has a #Tory government. And that's unlikely to change for at least another year. 😭
My pay from August £1278.91 (~58% deduction) due to #UCU Marking and Assessment Boycott (MAB). At the end of September, another month I’ll have pay withheld, when the current union action mandate ends I will have approx three months extra work to do marking alongside my normal full time duties. #UCEA have made clear that unpaid wages won’t be returned to us, and no increased pay offer. I’m £000s in debt now. Keep fighting!

@sylviademars This would require folks to openly and honestly deal with fiscal realities. And like the #Tories and #Brexit, a sizeable block of #UCU wishes to live in an invented past of their own creation. Also #UCEA wishes to protect the cartel, so deviants will be punished. So here we sit going nowhere.
Just refused the 3rd PhD examination this year in line with the #MAB (assessment boycott). Feeling terrible for the students, and my stressed colleagues who are trying to sort out vivas 😰Hoping against all odds that #UCEA are going to see the light eventually. @ucu @academicsunite #UCU #ichBinHanna #UCURising #FairPayForFairWork
Ran out of the Kelvin Gallery at the end of the staff conference this afternoon to join my union branch at the main gate to call on #UCEA to #SettleTheDispute and pay up!

This is a clip of Edinburgh staff/student solidarity network smashing it out of the park at their graduation ceremony yesterday. I’m not sure what’s a better watch, their protest, or the speaker’s efforts to stumble through #UCEA anti-union tag lines!!!???!!!

In an attempt to shut down the boycott entirely, the UCU agreed last week to a new meeting with the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA). Since imposing a pay deal of between 5 and 8 percent in March, the UCEA has insisted it will not consider any further increase.
