Why Your Eye Keeps Twitching

@nickperks Love it. Reminds me of a joke my eldest came up with:
“I recently got attacked by a large brown wading bird”
“Bittern?”
“No, but it gave me a bloody good peck…”
Why Your Eye Keeps Twitching

As High as a Kite
Which wasn't actually very high on this occasion

A very floofy and sleepy bird I saw today on my way back to the workshop after lunch.

Grateful that the only shooting that day was by a bloke with a camera

Once Bittern, Twice Shy...
Botaurus stellaris
Eurasian Bittern
The Bittern is a secretive bird, seldom seen in the open as it prefers to skulk in reed beds and thick vegetation near water bodies.

Fly By Shooting
Statistically speaking, it's more likely to be a Cormorant, but it could also be a Shag, cast your vote now....

Ah, Grasshopper!
Anthus pratensis
Meadow Pipit
Fascinating to watch it dashing around the sun-scorched grasslands gathering up crickets and/or grasshoppers (not sure which) for a few moments. It managed to fit 3 in its beak before flying off, presumably to a nearby nest to feed young.

Quit Your Choughing Nagging, Woman.... Of course I remembered to put the bins out...
Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax
Red-billed Chough
Not particularly rare yet, just restricted to a few coastal sites as it's habitat is destroyed by modern farming practises. Choughs pair up for life and return to the same nesting sites each year.
