I spend a lot of time (too much) on tumblr and some time on Bluesky, places that make the trans community seem super divided along gender and AGAB lines. I’m so grateful for trans people on fedi and IRL, especially my trans sisters, who remind me that we are united, that we have more in common than there are things that set us apart, that we are each other’s most natural allies. #transgender #trans #lgbtq #transUnity
VialontisI've been seeing a lot of disturbing things in the queer community as of late. Specifically a lot of hate towards trans men and transmascs. A lot of it mirrors the hate and discrimination that trans women have experienced in recent years, and bisexuals before that, and lesbians and gays before that.
It is an exclusionary hatred that threatens to divide the queer community and ultimately serves TERFS and bigots outside of the community.
Remember that kindness is not a zero-sum game. Accepting those who face different marginalizations than you doesn't put you at risk. We can all grow and benefit from acceptance and understanding. There a lot of people dealing with pain and trauma around gender, sexuality and identity. It can make it hard to be open these days.
Just remember that divisions like this make it easier go take everyone's rights away. Stay unified, learn about each other, build communities with many different kinds of people. They way we can be stronger than any of us would be apart.

Trans unity doesn't mean ignoring the various types of lateral transphobia that can come from within the trans community (eg prejudice against nonbinary people from binary trans people, transmisogyny from non-transfems, transandrophobia from non-transmascs, etc). It means understanding that we can hurt each other, learning from each other, taking care not to do lateral harm, and taking responsibility when we mess up. #TransUnity #transgender #trans #LGBTQIA
