RECLAIM Daily — May 10, 2026.

93 years ago today: Nazis burned Hirschfeld's trans archive. This morning: Reform-controlled councils came for the Pride flags. Durham, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire — “we are not going to spend taxpayers' money funding that.”

The Equality Act §149 doesn't let councils opt out of equality for one protected group. The collision is the point.

Tomorrow — Trans+ History Day.

Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, Berlin: founded 1919, raided May 6 1933, library of 20,000+ volumes burned May 10. The world’s first centre for trans medicine.

The science came first. The erasure came second. That order matters every time someone tells you trans people are new.

Trans+ History Week

RECLAIM Daily — May 4

Trans+ History Week opens today. Three days from a UK election. Two weeks from an EU decision on conversion-therapy.

The fact that holds (TransActual, March 2026): 99% of UK trans people say media coverage has damaged their mental health. 96%, how strangers behave. 91%, how families behave.

Science Explainer: What Sex Chromosomes Actually Do — And What They Don't

A sex chromosome is a starting instruction, not a verdict. The SRY gene triggers a cascade — and that cascade can run differently. Forty+ recognised variations. About 1.7% of births, comparable to natural red hair.

"XX or XY, end of story" was never the science.

Did you know? Michael Dillon was not only the first trans man to have phalloplasty, he was also the surgeon for one of Roberta Cowell’s transition related surgeries. The surgery he did on Roberta was not legal at the time, so Michael operated on her illegally.

Elagabalus was made a Roman Emperor at the age of just 14. The Emperor often wore wigs and makeup, and liked to be referred to by feminine titles. Elagabalus reportedly offered a large sum of money to any doctor who could give them a vagina.
