Made it from Europepark to Freiburg, where it was snowing. Hope to make it to Zurich tonight via Basel. Then Milano in the morning for a much needed cup of Italian coffee. #trainlife

Another crowded journey on a reduced capacity train while more and more take the train. At least I got a seat. And arrived at work to find toilets are out in our building. If not resolved by 10, the building with close and we will head home. In the meantime, we must either 'make do' or use public toilets nearby. Luckily I made it to the Library, 'just in time' as they say.

Weather is lovely again though.🙃

I once again would like to complain about the signage in Dutch NS trains. Since a few months, I've noticed that certain stations are not referred to using their official names. The next station on this line is called Ede-Wageningen. Among other things, this is the nearest train station to Wageningen University, which is a big draw to an international research community. Instead, the screens on the train just show the next station being "Ede". I wonder if people unfamiliar with the station who come here as an opponent for a PhD examination for instance, ever miss their stop as they are on the lookout for the 'Wageningen' part of the station name.
It's a small thing but for anxious people traveling in unknown regions, having shit like this happen doesn't help. I've definitely been confused and even missed my train by the annoying habits in Vienna metro for instance to give direction 'end station' in the app when planning, while on the trains and platforms they indicate the direction to a stop halfway down the line where lines diverge as most people don't require to travel beyond that point (or the other way around, it was confusing regardless, and the local security guard sending me to the wrong platform didn't help. Almost sent me north instead of south-west as intended) ... #NS #TrainLife #BahnBubble

Good on the Wellington College boys who gave up their seats this morning at the polite request of the train driver. The train was packed due to the decreased capacity (😠) and for some strange reasons more people are catching the train these days ( ). The driver was very droll and witty, apologised for the cramped conditions, but said our days could only get better from here on in. (😂 )
Concerningly none of us were masked, something I will personally need to change. Lovely autumn day today, but Metlink, witty drivers aside, can go get in the bin. (  )

#TrainLife #CrossBorderRail

Sitting in the train to Den Haag, the info screen is stuck on the grub startup menu

Today is a WFH day! And given the current conniptions with trains in the capital - sudden failures/cancellations/general chaos like yesterday evening, reduced carriage capacity at times, and half the number of working Snapper terminals at Wellington Station, this feels like a real win.

Standing room only on the train this morning. According to the Train Manager, there are fewer carriages available because one of their maintenance partners "has gone out business".
