Days 4+5: back at the trail work, this time getting out to a fabled area of Cedar Basin. Well, at least someone many of us knew had hiked the area and said it was a particularly nice spot.

I signed up for 3 days of trail work which turned into 2 days of work and a hike. First, the trail work:

More brush clearing on Wood Canyon Vista (Backbone) Trail in Pt. Mugu SP for National Trails Day. The crew leader says we did 610ft, which is a record for him with a crew of only 3. A crew of 4 also worked lower down.
Also not bad considering there was a running race going on (Keira Henninger Malibu 50M/50k/30k), so the trail was pretty busy. Nice to have so many runners going past thanking us for our work.
I sort of feel bad for spending so much time on this trail when there are lots of overgrown trails out there right now. The non-native mustard is crazy in places. But, this is longer term maintenance, doing tread-work and clearing older grown, so we want to finish it off.
There were some pretty big patches of poison oak. So far I've been careful when dealing with it, using a hedger so I don't have to touch it and washing my clothes and tools after. But, I'm always nervous that I wasn't careful enough. #NationalTrailsDay #TrailWork
