The next country on our Baltic cruise in 2017 was Estonia where we decided not to book any tours as the capital city was within walking distance of the ship and there were some museums relating to the Cold War and World War II periods we were interested in that weren't part of anything organised. These all turned out to closed when we visited despite websites claiming otherwise so we ended up simply walking around the very attractive city. Beers were had in the sunshine, of course.
Pictured is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral on Toompea hill. Built in a typically Russian style and during a period of Russification and occupation it's subsequently become a symbol disliked by many Estonians and plans to demolish it frequently come up, with more arising since 2022 for obvious reasons.
