Did more Bronco-ing with pals yesterday, a couple of them new to our little Bronco-havers collective. Vastly more technical and challenging driving this time out than any of the previous outings. A couple sections were tougher than the stuff I did at the Off-Roadeo outside of Vegas last May.

My mental health has improved after getting back into my spirit forest this morning for the first time since the snowstorms. University Falls was raging. I did a 10 mile loop connecting the Wilson River Wagon Road Trail to the Gravelle Brothers Trail back. It took me 5 hours because it was probably 70% snow anywhere from a couple inches to postholing 2 feet deep.

Felt good to get back to one of my favorite spots in the Tillamook. Unfortunately, no sunrise but a lot less rain than I anticipated. I love that once you get past the Elk Creek/Kings Mountain junction and up on the West Fork Elk Creek forest service road there is almost never anyone around.

The Port of Tillamook Bay “ghost” railroad ran through the Tillamook State Forest along the Salmonberry River. It was destroyed in the Great Coastal Gale storm of 2007. This tunnel can be reached via Salmonberry Road to the very steep Beaver Slide Road off of Highway 26. I plan to go back someday to explore more of the railroad though I believe officially it is not allowed due to unsafe conditions. #Oregon #TillamookStateForest #hiking #nature #outdoors
Was very happy highway 6 to Tillamook State Forest was above freezing this morning, I really needed to get back in my favorite forest. Hiked from the highway to Round Top peak and back. The snow got to be close to a foot deep. #TillamookStateForest #Oregon #hiking #outdoors
