Del resto, il leader di Kiev prevede “mesi molto difficili” per l’Ucraina, sia sul piano politico sia su quello militare. Proprio grazie a questa breve tregua, spera di poter riallacciare i contatti diplomatici che, come noto, sono in stallo da mesi.
“Se la Russia sceglie la strada della de-escalation, credo che un incontro trilaterale (con anche gli Stati Uniti, ndr) avrà luogo”, ha scritto il leader ucraino su X. Lo stesso auspica che tutto ciò porti a “un reale avanzamento verso la pace”, tanto più che “in Russia c’è la possibilità di non tornare agli attacchi anche dopo la Pasqua”.

Stando a quanto dichiarato da Zelensky, il tempo gioca a sfavore dell’Ucraina. Con l’avvicinarsi dell’estate, infatti, a Washington “ci si concentrerà sui processi interni, sulle elezioni” e, inevitabilmente, il supporto alla resistenza ucraina, già fortemente ridotto da Donald Trump, sarà pressoché bloccato.
L’accettazione della tregua da parte di Zelensky, che ad onor del vero l’aveva proposta già giorni fa, è stata accolta con favore dal Cremlino. Il portavoce Dmitry Peskov ha precisato che il cessate il fuoco è stato deciso unilateralmente dalla Russia, senza alcuna consultazione con gli Stati Uniti, e che, se la tregua verrà rispettata da Kiev, potrebbe rappresentare il viatico per la ripresa dei negoziati di pace.

A temporary ceasefire, limited to only the Orthodox Easter, between Russia and Ukraine: this is the proposal of Vladimir Putin to Volodymyr Zelensky, which he accepted with pleasure.

Indeed, the leader of Kyiv anticipates “very difficult months” for Ukraine, both politically and militarily. Thanks to this brief truce, he hopes to be able to re-establish diplomatic contacts that, as is known, have been stalled for months.

“If Russia chooses the path of de-escalation, I believe a trilateral meeting (with the United States, among others) will take place,” the Ukrainian leader wrote on X. He also hopes that this will lead to “a real advance towards peace,” all the more so because “in Russia there is the possibility of not returning to attacks even after Easter.”

According to Zelensky, time is working against Ukraine. With the approach of summer, in Washington “they will focus on internal processes, on elections” and, inevitably, support for the Ukrainian resistance, already strongly reduced by Donald Trump, will be virtually blocked.

The acceptance of the truce by Zelensky, who had actually proposed it several days earlier, was welcomed by the Kremlin. Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov clarified that the ceasefire was decided unilaterally by Russia, without any consultation with the United States, and that if the truce is respected by Kyiv, it could represent the prelude to the resumption of peace negotiations.
