The Song of Songs anthology I was interested in turned out to be very out-dated, so I dropped it. Then I read The Seep by Chana Porter. It's about an older woman who lives in a world that has been transformed by an alien called The Seep. The alien makes everyone nice and happy, and everything becomes recyclable and people can change their bodies' species at will, and curing diseases is easy. But the main character, Trina, misses the old world.
To be honest I feel like I didn't quite "get" this book. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I thought it would be more about the nature of unreality, sort of like The Lathe of Heaven... I think it was more about autonomy and choices, or something like that.
