After seeing The Ark’s season 2 penultimate episode* this week, I’m hoping that NBCUniversal greenlights a third season.
It’s a rare low budget Syfy Original that has a second season better than its first.
I’ve already posed the question ‘Why aren’t you watching this?!!’ to Star Trek and Stargate fans who keep saying they’re hankering for an aspirational, upbeat classic sci-fi show and are less concerned with expensive production values or perfect scientific explanations.
If you like Dean Devlin products like Stargate, Godzilla (1998), Independence Day, or listen to ‘The Inglorious Treksperts, I’d be very surprised if this isn’t your thing.
I’d argue that if you liked 60s and 70s sci-fi shows such as Space 1999, The Starlost, Ark II, and the original Battlestar Galactica, you’ll find much to enjoy with this one.
With a bit of digging, I was able to find that it has a broader international distribution than many realize, it’s worth tracking down in your market!
And if you happen to have checked out The Ark since I last posted, I’d love to hear what you think.
*Edited: I keep thinking the season is done as I’m just not thinking of 12 episode seasons anymore.
