Loooooooved the ‘80s everything of this. The fashion, the soundtrack, The cars (though I know nothing about them they feature pretty heavily at first). I assumed this was sponsored by Ferrari until the dealer started handing out coke. Or maybe that was an actual sales point. Hilarious scene where pervy ‘80s punk/hair metal-loving baddie realizes he’s not going to get laid with just a fast car as he’s a middle-aged guy in a cheap suit. Also cue some genuinely great practical effects. Kyle MacLachlan is perfect in the role and there are some funny scenes. I really love the full
#TheHidden had a strong opening scene with the bank robbery and the car chase. After the first body transition, it went all cliché, with the bad guy listening to rock music, visiting strip clubs, stealing a macho car. As the two cops received centre stage gradually, it turned stronger again. Michael Nouri as the tough everyman and Kyle MacLachlan as the weird FBI agent work well together. Overall, a nice Terminator variant.
Sorry to hear that #JacquesHaitkin, the inventive American #cinematographer, has passed. A major force in sustaining the rubber reality of the first two #ANightmareOnElmStreet films (1984/85), he would collaborate further with Wes Craven and Jack Sholder (#TheHidden, 1987) and excelled with limited budgets, notably #GalaxyOfTerror (1981), #ToDieFor (1989), Larry Cohen's #TheAmbulance and Frank Darabont's #BuriedAlive (both 1990).
