Someone mentioned earlier that Robert Easton, who cowrote the movie and played the creepy stepdad, was a dialect coach. Here’s an interview where he demonstrates a bunch of different voices. Just imagine what it would have been like if he had used his Peter Lorre voice in the spider movie.
