I'm creating my first piece of writing with #LaTeX, but my initial joy is suddenly dashed. A page break occurs far too early, leaving a full third of the page blank, and the last sentence, complete with the closing phrase, is pushed all alone to the second page.
Such inexplicable problems certainly don't just deter me from using this technique. I've completely lost interest in it, at least.
Erstelle mein erstes Schreiben mit #LaTeX, doch die anfängliche Freude wird jäh zerstört. Es findet viel zu früh ein Seitenumbruch statt, sodass glatt ein Drittel der Seite leer bleibt und der letzte Satz samt Grußformel einsam auf die zweite Seite gerückt wird.
Solche unerklärlichen Problemen schrecken dann sicher nicht nur mich davon ab, diese Technik zu benutzen. Mir ist zumindest die Lust gänzlich vergangen.
In der Bücherei habe ich mir ein #LaTeX Buch ausgeliehen. Aus der berühmten "für dummies"-Reihe, damit auch ich eine Chance habe, es zu kapieren 😉
Auf dem PC befinden sich die Programme #texmaker und #texstudio, die ich schon länger nicht mehr gestartet hatte. Als ich sie jetzt öffnete, um den Beispielen zu folgen, entdeckte ich zu meinem Entsetzen in den Einstellungen von texstudio einen Abschnitt #KI. Es ist mir egal, ob sich das deaktivieren lässt, ich will damit nicht belästigt werden. Also umgehend deinstalliert. Ehrlich, diese Plage nervt gewaltig.

Sometimes you just close #TexMaker and use vim to modify .tex files… because annoying tables in .*TeX are just much easier to handle in vim.
There's a script for that¹. And vim's column selection/deletion/insertion is useful as hell to add or remove columns easily in your .*TeX tables.
Typesetting LaTeX tables is time consuming and can get very complicated. It is, however, very easy to use the Perl LaTeX::Table module from within Vim. Install the module with: $ cpan LaTeX::Table Then for example, enter the following into a buffer: theme=NYC;caption_top=1;caption=Bla Animal & Description & Price Gnat & per gram & 13.65 & each & 0.02 Gnu & stuffed & 92.59 Now visually select the lines (for example, ggVG), and enter the command !ltpretty to filter the text through the ltpretty sc
