Being a born and bred Texan, this hurts. It's an ingrained instinct to many of us that you're almost Texan first, then an American, and we're taught to be proud of our heritage.

(When I was in the military a fellow Airman told me once that he'd never met a Texan that wasn't loud and proud about it.)

Over the last few years this feeling of shame and despair has been growing and I've never wanted to leave my home state more than I do right now. It makes me sad to see what we've become. What we have and are allowing.
