On this day in 2011, the TEDA Tramway in Tianjin 🇨🇳

TEDA is the Tianjin Economic Development Area, and is linked with Tianjin City by the Binhai Mass Transit (BMT) rail line. The tram runs from TEDA BMT station through the centre of the area to the College District.

The tram is a Translohr system, with a central guide rail and rubber wheels to drive and support the vehicle.

There is also a short section of track with no overhead wires, to allow for oversized trucks to cross the line. The trams operate over this section using capacitors.
