Dear #linux experts specifically in the Ubuntu/debian sphere, i am a relatively new swap to Linux with both Kubuntu 25.04 and mint 22.3 builds as well as a steam deck i occasionally use as a portable desktop. Why does Linux constantly turn num lock off and how the hell do i keep it on?!?! I have tried numlockx but it still shuts off every time the screen locks on mint, Kubuntu at least keeps it on till i restart. #tech #pc #techhelp

Anyone have any recommendations for a printer that will plug and play? I dont want the bloatware of HP/subscription non sense. Or have it send notifications that the ink is low etc.. I want to be able to use a USB to plug in print what I need too.

Don't print very often, was looking at a laser ink cartridge type

My #garmin doesn't seem to be charging anymore. The connector is proprietary so I don't want to drop money on it and find out it's the watch that's broken. I took out my multimeter and tested continuity and resistance of all four pins in the cable. That seemed to indicate the cable is good, but I didn't test voltage. Can I assume at this point the cable is good and it's the watch's jack that's busted?

Okay, the next addition to "Saga does Linux": yesterday my Bluetooth mouse stopped working. Something about the Bluez daemon not running? After trying to do rfkill and unblock in terminal I read online that it was a known hardware problem with Asus. I did a cold boot and it worked again. Then I got problems with my wifi. Is that because both Bluetooth and my network are on 2.4ghz? My computer was quite far from the router at the time.

If I do a dual boot of some kind of Ubuntu and Windows, do I get to keep the Windows part as it is now or is it a new installation of Windows? And if I want to make the full switch to Ubuntu, do I then get to keep the installation from the dual boot or do I have to install Ubuntu anew?

a simple synced cloud back up of my USB at currently 15GB

which does not use them for AI scraping

does there exist any beginner-intermediate friendly guides for getting composite/AV output from a raspberry pi zero 2w? did a fair bit of digging and all i'm seeing are one or two custom solder jobs- is it even possible to get composite out through the mini-hdmi port on this thing? (i of course have adapters in place). have tried toggling a few things back and forth in the retropie config file but no luck as of yet.

Hey, does anyone know of any good online resources for teaching port forwarding and DNS stuff? I'm trying to set up a server and hitting my head against a wall. Bonus points if it's Linux/Debian specific and/or can be accomplished without an internet connection.
