Question, if I change a file's suffix from ".html" to ".htm" by just using the rename function, would it break the file? I have a file that is saved as .html, but is written in other pages as .htm, and changing it once would be a lot faster than a dozen plus times over many pages.

Thanks!

Anyone know of a good place to look up stats of old computers? Preferably that will stick around? I've got an old Insignia Windows tablet that I wanted to ask around about, but the link on Best Buy disappeared.

thanks!

Thinking about having to move to Windows 11 again.

On one hand, I'd like a dual boot with Mint. On the other, I'd like to just buy a really fast thumbdrive use this program I've seen than makes a portable Win11 boot and just have Mint on my good PC.

The downside I've been thinking of thus far if using the portable is that I wanted to do that and minimize the spying Windows can do on me. But thinking atm, if it's only plugged in when I need it, do I give a shit on the few things they're spying on me for? In all likelihood, Steam or EGS already know what I'm doing because those are the few games I have that are Windows-only.

Hm.

So, right now I've gone from thinking about installing another SSD in my good PC for Mint and leaving C for Win11 to making it Mint only and making a portable version of Win11.

Will it be slow as shit? Probably.
Will Destiny 2 run on it? No.
Will it suffice for what I need Windows for? Maybe.

I dunno.

I find it interesting that after Mozilla's [latest] snafu, a lot of other services are making their own comments. Largely how they're not Mozilla. LibreWolf created its first social media account here on the Fediverse. SimpleX clarified what they can or can't take, (both on principle and intentional technical limitations,) etc.

Waterfox's comments have been the most interesting so far. They said that while they don't agree with Mozilla's changes, the fact that they have a governing body that you can complain to and not just a git page puts them a step above a lot of Firefox forks. Incidentally, Waterfox also has a governing body.

I don't really have a comment on this beyond I've been using a Firefox fork for a while.

Another Question. Is there a way to Upgrade Windows 10 to 11 and not have to log into a Microsoft Account? I see plenty of articles on doing so from a fresh install, but I'd rather not go that route if possible.

::EDIT:: I say this under the assumption that a clean install will mean I have to install all of my programs and files again.

Here's an odd question. Is it possible to daisy chain hard drives? Like, can I use one SATA port with a ribbon that has connectors for two hard drives. I think this was possible on my old IDE computer, but no idea with modern hardware.

I want to dual boot, and all the suggestions are a drive for each OS, but my laptop has very little physical space and all of the SATA ports are filled. That said, I might be able to shove a small M.2 SATA drive in there. I asked on the hardware company's forum and they were less than helpful.

With DivestOS discontinuing, I'm looking for an alternative to Mull on #Android. I want a Gecko-based browser, preferably more privacy-focused than Firefox itself. Though I will say that I'm not totally opposed to it.

Thus far I've heard of ArkenFox, which I'm going to try out. It's a bonus that it's on F-Droid.
I also saw that Midori has a Android version now. Though not on F-Droid? I've never heard of their Play Store alternative, UpToDown. Are they legit?

I have Tor, but it's too hard nosed for me for daily driving.

I'm up to suggestions!

::EDIT:: Mainly edited to fix a hashtag, but also I'm trying Fennec atm.

Hey,

Does anyone know of a way to test which USB port is which, and what speed they are? Or the speed of a USB drive?

Preferably for free, and if it's an app, it is portable or doesn't require registry editing. I'm on a work PC and I want to know if my thumbdrive would be better plugged in elsewhere.

thanks!
