As a #GenX, I was part the first wave of kids who grew up with personal computers. As an IT manager and then a tech journalist for decades, I had a deep and abiding belief in the transformative power of technology as a force for societal change and improvement.

I'm away from the scene professionally, and now I deeply mistrust and actively loathe so much of it - from #enshittification to #ai to #techbro fascism.

Glad to no longer be part of that world, but genuinely terrified about it.
