I know everything has its pros and it's cons, and there are some things that Sonic Boom did right. This video points out a lot of my frustrations with the show that I didn't highlight. Sonic Boom products some pretty serious stuff that ended up being handled in a light-hearted manner. I honestly don't like it when shows do that, generally speaking. The show is for the funnies, but then they do some serious shit and make it funny and I'm just like "what the actual fuck? "
They did do something with cyber Sonic that a lot of us wanted to see. They updated a robotic sonics appearance to match his current appearance. I don't see why they don't do that in the mainstream parts of the story/ franchise.
I will say what I expect to see from something called "cyber" would probably take place in the internet. Isn't that what Sonic frontiers is supposed to be? I didn't see anything particularly "cyber" about this robot Sonic.
Sonic boom got two seasons and two games. Fine.
After watching this video I think I see something. A lot of people are running to Sonic Boom because it's a less serious installment of the franchise. When I think about it, a lot of the Sonic franchises very serious. I think Sonic Boom is the only one where there isn't a world ending thing going on. Some communities might be devastated but it won't be the entire world. Sonic is usually a very all or nothing "the world is going to explode if you don't get your ass up and get going." And now we have Sonic prime where there are different dimensions where Sonic doesn't exist and all those dimensions that don't have a Sonic get fucked up. I don't see why that has to be a thing when everybody else is supposed to be just as powerful as he is in their own different ways.
It's like Sonic and the Black knight. Nothing life-threatening going on, because it's all a dream. It's very far and few between we get a non-world threatening Sonic installment, and I can see how people would want that.
What I don't appreciate, and what's going to kill my argument with a lot of pro Sonic Boom fans, is how in this video they took a slight out of metal Sonic and then said that Sonic has doesn't interacted with his doppelgangers. Sonic the movie 1996 was all about metal and Sonic interacting with each other. Also the Archie comic where years later after being first introduced, Sonic and pseudo Sonic not only had an interaction but had a whole fight where pseudo sonic was doing a good job of holding his own up against Sonic for most of that fight.
I also consider that the metal doppelgangers aren't made to banter with sonic, they're made to kill him! Cyber Sonic was made to help Sonic, and even when he got corrupted, the new function wasn't to kill Sonic. It was to beat him in a football game.
But now that's some people have gotten what they wanted, I want to talk about what I want. I want the Sonic franchise to go way of the Steven universe franchise of discussing Sonic's trauma and actually being serious about it. Our Blue Blur Boi has watched the world almost in multiple times, on top of so many other things. Very recent themes in Sonic the hedgehog have been about how Sonic is two headstrong and doesn't listen. Yeah, it's also okay to give a therapist. It would be cool if we at least got a mini series of "Sonic goes to therapy!" Let's actually address what he doesn't care robotnik instead of bringing it up in a few paragraphs and then dropping it. And you can't say it's because he's a hero. I know some of y'all play Kirby games, and Kirby has ended deities over cake!
