This bar-top bottling (2018) is in fine form, rich but balanced, sweet but complex. Toffee, melted caramel and almonds. It seems surprisingly fresh with the endless finish old Tawnies revel in. It's a 40 that has done well to maintain itself in a lively fashion.
I love my Tawnies! Current pricing around $150-ish for 500ml
This 30-year Tawny is bright, fresh and spicy with the familiar caramel overlay and some grip. The persistent finish is long, and the balance just doesn't get better. It's utterly delicious and dribbles fresh flavors over the palate. From Mário Braga Herdeiros, Quinta do Mourão (though son Miguel now runs the winery). A bit pricey, worth it ($150), Bar-top cork (bottled 2017).
Note that you'll more easily find the brand name "São Leonardo."
"Schuh am Elbstrom" ist schon eine marginal lustige Bezeichnung
