Riding my bike to work first time after tropical cyclone Alfred. Footpaths, which generally are poorly maintained in Gold Coast, are now also blocked in places by broken branches. The side of the road, where a footpath has been missing for 20 years (this road is an only access to 2000+ homes), is blocked by fallen trees in some places.
Bonus: an Audi running a red light.
Four major floods in 50 years is an interesting framing: it was one flood 50 years ago, 35 years passed, and then there's been three just in the last 15 years.

First day of regular public transport in Gold Coast after tropical cyclone Alfred. 58k homes still without electricity in South East Queensland (SEQ).
Back in Mudjimba again this morning before my flight.
Bit of erosion, but nothing too serious. Also somewhat amazingly there's basically no signs that anything out of the ordinary happened on the drive up—no damage or standing water, just a very full Maroochy River.
Here's WTF happened last week:
1️⃣ Facebook hid Cyclone Alfred posts which is concerning, especially during emergencies. It is a matter of public safety. An apology isn’t enough.

Watching videos and reading articles about people who are ripping up carpeting (some of my friends included) and having to replace furniture because of the effects of #TCAlfred #Alfred and the subsequent storms and massive rainfall and thinking...this is just becoming the norm. People just going oh well, at least no one was hurt.
WTF is wrong with people? Of course people are HURT. This costs every single one of us.
