🌻Dieter Hoppe, Professor of #OrganicChemistry @uni_muenster from 1992–2006, passed away on March 20. He had developed new #SyntheticMethods in general and he was a master of #AsymmetricSynthesis in particular. Into these fields he had been introduced by Ulrich Schöllkopf @uniGoettingen where he got his PhD in 1970. One of his PhD students is Martin Oestreich @Silicon_Martin, today Prof. @TUBerlin and a member of the Advisory Board of the Lives in Chemistry series.

We are working on the LARRY E. OVERMAN #autobiography about “Designing Synthetic Methods and #NaturalProducts #Synthesis” that will be released in Spring 2024. Born in 1943 in Chicago, he had joined the newly founded Faculty of Chemistry @UCIrvine in 1971. It became his homebase for more than 50 years until his retirement as Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus. Larry is most known for the Overman #rearrangement.
