Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis)

The actual flowering has already occurred (I think), but the developing seed head looks to me like a spiky red flower. The red color will soon fade to light brown.

Fourth: the sycamore- debate rages (or a few experts differ) on whether this can be counted as a native tree. The long pendulous flowers turn to familiar ‘keys’ or seeds with a flat surface to catch the wind in autumn and it self seeds prolifically.
