Just realized that one of the things I like about OG #SomeFubu is that both characters can be described as gap moe. Smush them together and it's double gap moe!

Shirou looks like a cutie but could kill. It's kind of implied that he fights bears and he has a sharp tongue. (it's really funny )

Someoka looks like a tough guy but is actually a softie. He does act like a tough guy, lot of toxic masc, but he's a total tsundere protective of his loved ones.

So I've been thinking about Fubuki Atsuya, the ghost and AreOri versions, not the alter.

As a SomeFubu fan, Atsuya comes with the package. He's bound to Shirou (as a ghost and living being) so I've seen art and fics of him reacting to Shirou's crush (fanon, sadly) on Someoka.

I think it's super funny characterizing Atsuya as "homophobic" or as I've starting calling it "romance repulsed." And I do think romance-repulsed is a more accurate term to describe Atsuya because from his behavior in AreOri, he seems like the kind of guy who would be grossed out by any kind of romance.

He's generally an allergic-to-feelings kinda guy so I don't see any reason why he would be particularly against his brother against a guy compared to a girl. I think Atsuya would be equally uncomfortable and confused.

Honor Student x Punk dynamic SomeFubu where Someoka, who looks like a punk, is a straight laced person (eg. sleeps early, delivers hw on time, follows school rules) and Shirou, who looks like an angel who wouldn't hurt a fly, engages in stereotypically punk behavior (eg. smoking, drinking, staying late outside).

When Someoka tries to tell other people about Shirou outside their social circle no one believes him.

Alrighto, decided on an interpretation of Adult!alterAtsuya.

So after S2/IE2, alter!Atsuya went to sleep deep within Shirou. He decided to do this bc he believed it was the best course of action for Shirou to be happy. From then on, Atsuya existed when Shirou didn't.

Years passed, then Shirou and Atsuya had a talk and decided to coexist, building separate lives while supporting each other and all. Maybe Atsuya was feeling a bit lonely and decided to make his existence known to Shirou or smth.

Shirou is the one who played as part of the national team. Shirou is the one who is both an awesome defender and a striker. Atsuya acknowledges his brother's soccer talent and he's not any worse himself.

Also, I'm inclined to consider that Shirou acknowledges that alter!Atsuya is a completely different entity from his actual deceased brother. Alter!Atsuya has always known ofc but young Shirou couldn't grapple with that fact. As young adults, Shirou acknowledges alter!Atsuya as an independent existence. Thus, Atsuya decides to change his name to some Japanese character related to heat/passion but read as "Atsu." He likes this bc from what Shirou told him, he would have gotten along swimmingly with the boy had he survived. Atsu and Atsuya are similar in some aspects, they are passionate about their interests and protective of their loved ones. As they get older, Atsu becomes more different than Shirou's memories of his brother.

(NGL I'm using AreOri Atsuya as a reference bc I can't pull this stuff outta nowhere. I will sprinkle some differences here and there, particularly on his characterization as an adult which is nowhere in canon)

So for my fic, I want to make a callback to the Aliea Arc. Atsu's role there was really specific and relevant to the struggles I want to portray with Shirou. Basically, Atsu as a little devil that acts like Shirou's guardian angel. He knows what Shirou needs but like back then, any advice he gives to Shirou will go in one ear and out the other. So Atsu is like the meme "oh shit, here we go again" and devises a plan to get Shirou out of his rut.

Enter, Someoka Ryuugo.

Changed the name last minute and I like it A LOT.

I returned to the IE fandom to write some damn SomeFubu and after idk 2 months, 3??? it's finally happening.

Not sure when the next chapter will be out. Uploading this chapter was like planting a seed and I'll start growing it from now on.

I was considering which fic to focus on next.

First thought I should finish drafting the #SomeFubu fic but then realized I have a couple of drafts that I should pay attention to instead (a short fic for Keima and Kiyoshi on the highschool years, or a smutty KeiKoyo oneshot for FTL). The former is like halfway written but it the oldest draft of the two while the latter needs some pizazz and idk how to tackle it.
