Also: It's interesting to think about the progress from the time between #TheLeatherBoys and #SmashingTime .
In THE LEATHER BOYS (1964), they can't even verbalize "gay", but by the time SMASHING TIME (1967) rolls around, there are several openly #LGBTQ characters - including #MurrayMelvin ! - in small roles.
BRENDA: [genuinely shocked] “Do you mean he’ll try to take her home and seduce her while she’s under the influence of unaccustomed quantities?!?!?”
YVONNE: “I’ll just have to tell them I hadn’t the facilities available to acheive the new, switched-on, casual look!”
