Also: It's interesting to think about the progress from the time between #TheLeatherBoys and #SmashingTime .

In THE LEATHER BOYS (1964), they can't even verbalize "gay", but by the time SMASHING TIME (1967) rolls around, there are several openly #LGBTQ characters - including #MurrayMelvin ! - in small roles.

I've brought my pencil sketch into Illustrator. It's on it's own locked-down layer, while I am building my lines and shapes on their own separate layer.

This close-up shows my process starting with the shape of the face and the features, using the pen tool with the locked-down pencil sketch as a guide.

There were a few days at the beginning when I literally could do no more than sit upright at my desk… and even that took everything out of me.

I think I have one more picture in me for 2024… I think I can finish my portrait of Reggie from #TheLeatherBoys by New Years!
…And here’s one more sketch of him. I feel the same way when I daydream and doodle pictures of #MarcBolan ! He’s just dreamy.

Oh and one my therapists told me I should tell you all this: she is sending people to my #VENMO and I’m doing pencil sketch pet portraits in exchange for donations! I’ve already done a few, and total strangers have been very generous!

I will post some of those sketches tomorrow.
