Just found out that one of my parishioners is being taken to Denver because local doctors found a tumor/growth on the right frontal lobe of his brain. So we are doing what we can at the moment for the rest of the family: praying and offering support where needed.
It’s still early, and I’m sure this will not be a quick trip for the family.
Last week was #BarWeek but I was sick all week. So I moved it to this week.
The smoky bar was quiet, the dinner bar had someone kicked out for obnoxious behavior, the bar behind was also quiet but I had chat with a regular, and then there was last night.
Last night at the crazy lounge I had a good talk wjth a guy who is “LDS, but not a good one.” He’s convinced 47 and the whole administration is both evil and stupid. And the bartender gave me free eggs. She also likes me, so she gets me my drinks for free.
Yesterday was a long day:
7 am Eucharist;
9 home visits (2 cards, 1 sermon copy dropped off, 1 monthly newsletter dropped off, 2 Communions, & 3 conversations) for a whopping 12 miles driven;
Online lectionary discussion;
and wrapped it up with a bar visit.
Some days this job is funner than others.
Today I need to wrap up the sermon.
