Some of us grew up in cities, amongst multicultural communities in which difference was normal and folk were encouraged to embrace one another’s cultural quirks and traditions without judgement. So we celebrated a different religious or cultural holiday every other week, because we were friends with people from all parts of the world, of all religions, and sharing in celebrations and cultural moments was normalised, wherever you personally came from.
Other people grew up in more homogenous societies, communities in which the majority – if not all – of the people around you were of the same ethnic background, the same religious beliefs, and most probably came from generations of people living in the same place. Here, difference meant strangeness, and while some communities are very welcoming and happy to embrace differences, other places saw that ‘strangeness’ as a threat, something to not be curious about but to be hostile to, and reject at all costs. And what a sad place to grow up, what a sad attitude to have.
The American woman in this story has been abroad once, to Europe for her honeymoon, and she’s very proud of that fact. Her daughter even married a Spanish man, and she’s very grateful for the grandchildren that have been borne from their marriage. However, a shock revelation when she was snooping on his computer led her to reject his culture, and to reject the multicultural upbringing that the couple are giving her grandchildren.

In contrast to a time in Catholic Ireland when nudity was a profound taboo, naturists are now greeted with a blend of smiles and high fives while hiking naked in Wicklow.
That’s according to Derek Keogh from the Irish Naturist Association, who is organising a naked hike this weekend ahead of World Hiking Day.
Up to 20 people are expected to embark on the hike, which covers Ravens Rock located in the Wicklow Mountains, along with Prince William’s Seat and Knocknagun this Saturday.
It will be one of many events taking place around the world to mark World Hiking Day on Sunday. For many, the event will be a reminder of how far Ireland has come since the Irish Naturist Association was formed in 1966.
“We still have people who remember what it was like before,” Derek told the Irish Examiner. “They paved the way for what we take for granted today. We still like to put a sign up telling people that we are going to be in a place but obviously you can’t cover the mountains.
"The typical reaction we get from people we meet along the way is a smile or look of amusement. You occasionally get high fives from people. Some will say “fair play” while at the same admitting that naturism wouldn’t be for them."
He said the organisation was celebrating 60 years in existence and now has 800 members...

Why are you reading this? Perhaps you are asking a question plainly and without ornament: Can someone be both a Christian and a nudist? It is a fair question, and for many people it is not a theoretical one. It touches conscience, discipleship, embodiment, shame, holiness, and the way Christians are taught to think about the human body. It may also feel like the sort of question many believers are not supposed to ask out loud. But unanswered questions do not become unimportant just because they make us uneasy.
Perhaps you are a pastor, elder, teacher, or ministry leader, and someone in your church has raised this subject. Perhaps you were caught off guard. Perhaps your first instinct was caution, concern, or even suspicion. That is understandable. But it is precisely here that careful Christian thinking matters most. Not every unusual question is a corrupt question. Sometimes a difficult subject is difficult because it has been neglected, oversimplified, or discussed only through caricature.
Perhaps you are uncomfortable even seeing this topic in writing, yet you also know that discomfort by itself is not the same thing as discernment. Or perhaps you are already a Christian nudist or naturist and you are trying to determine whether your faith and your practice can be brought into honest conversation without evasion, mockery, or false accusation. **Norfolk nudist camp's furious response to sex club policy**

The cheek of it! A Norfolk nudist group reacted with fury after council officials contacted it to warn they were bringing in new powers to regulate “sex establishments”.
Broadland Sun Association, which runs a naturist camp in Stoke Holy Cross, was angry at the implication it should be covered by the new policy, which requires sexual entertainment venues (SEVs), like lap dancing clubs, to apply for licences.
It accused South Norfolk Council of implying nudity itself was sexual and said such attitudes were a “throwback to the saucy postcard era”.
Steve Law, the club secretary, wrote back to the council demanding to know why it had been contacted and told officials they should visit to find out more about naturism.
He wrote: "We are grateful to have been asked for our views on the licensing of SEVs, but somewhat concerned that you appear to believe that our club may in some way be affected by such legislation or policymaking.
"We find it unlikely that contact was made with every limited company or club in the area and would be grateful if you could explain the reasoning which led to us being asked for our views."
The document was sent to the club by South Norfolk Council as part of a consultation exercise about the introduction of a licensing system to regulate SEVs, sex shops and sex cinemas...

Indonesia is a deeply religious and conservative country where just going topless on the beach can result in a fine. Which is why the rise of Bali’s clothing-optional resorts feels so unexpected.
In the past I've visited nude beaches and skinny-dipped with friends. But there’s a big difference between briefly taking your clothes off at a beach and being naked around complete strangers for several days.
I arrived at the nude resort carrying the same insecurities that most of us do. I'm no fitness model, I’m middle aged with a dad bod, losing hair where I wish it would stay and growing hair where I wish it wouldn’t.
How would I go living completely nude with other strangers for five days?
Ker started the Bali Natur resort in 2023 after a slowdown in tourism during the Covid lockdowns.
“We opened in 2012 as a normal guest house, then we changed the concept during Covid,” she said.
“As there was so much competition for accommodation, and we love the naturist concept we decided to change.”
Ker says that growing up in a poor farming family clothing was not always a priority.
“We were so poor even buying clothes was difficult, so nudity was quite common at home and in the field,” she said.
“My family was always nearly naked at home, so nudity is not a big deal for me or my family, who all now work here.”...
