Silver High names band room for longtime director

[/caption] A gathering at Silver High School on Friday morning was very much like a family reunion as former students and others who knew longtime band teacher David Kendrick honored him, naming the band room for him. “He had his family at home, and he had his band family,” his widow, Cindy Kendrick, told the Daily Press prior to a reception in the school library. “I always kidded him. I said, ‘You’re just like the Pied Piper. Everywhere we go there’s a gaggle of kids.’” Kendrick taught at Silver High School from 1991 to 2010. He died in 2022 at the age of 72. Some of those kids returned to the high school for the dedication Friday, including Chase Sturdevant, a 2010 SHS graduate who exemplified the idea of Kendrick’s student family.
