After spending three days relaxing in Yomitan we made our way back south to the more urban Naha for three days. There was plenty to do there and on the first day we went to see Shuri Castle. Once the site of Ryukyuan royalty it was largely destroyed during WWII and rebuilt later. When we visited a few buildings were currently being rebuilt, with traditional techniques, following a fire that broke out in 2019

I took a photo of the main hall of Shuri Castle in Okinawa from the back on September 3, 2019. The rear of the Shuri Castle main hall was opened to the public on February 1, 2019. However, the main hall of Shuri Castle was destroyed by fire on October 31, 2019. This means that only those who visited during this short period have seen the back of the Shuri Castle main hall.
