We’ve had some good sunsets in the apple orchard over the last few days. Warm weather and wet but not too wet! Managed to plant some more daffodils for the Spring. Cut the grass to help the Shropshire sheep who have just been let back in. It’s still growing well. #sunset #autumn #sheep #ShropshireSheep
Growing in the mature orchard sward of Beau Vista orchard Birds-Foot Trefoil. A flowering plantin of the pea family native to England & Europe. It is a favoured forage as it does not cause bloat. Habitats include old fields. It survives fairly close grazing, trampling by the sheep. Bumblebees love the flowers. Great for soil improvement as it’s deep root system helps aerate the soil, enhance water infiltration, and reduce compaction. #ShropshireSheep #orchard #apples #pears #birdsfoottrefoil

A look back at Beau Vista orchard. Planted in 2004, this first picture is blossom time 2011, compared to now. The apple trees have grown, some have been replaced by perry pears and the hedge has been planted and grown. And we no longer mow and use herbicide! Shropshire sheep do a much better job. #apple #pear #hedge #blossom #orchard #cider #perry #sheep #ShropshireSheep

Shropshire sheep waiting expectantly to be let back into the orchard to do the autumn tidying up. They love eating the fallen apples and sometimes get drunk and fall over if the apples have started to ferment! Four legs are harder to co-ordinate than two if tipsy! They are removed from the orchard at New Year till about now to keep the orchard swath clean as we collect the freshly fallen apples for the cider #shropshiresheep #orchard #ciderapples
