Non sentii trepidazione, la aprii. Non recava nessuna orribile notizia. “Aaahhh!”, urlai. Le mie sensazioni non mi avevano in ingannato.

The bell rang. I still suspected nothing evil.
The mailman brought me a letter. Suspecting nothing evil, I opened it.
There was nothing evil in it.
“Ha!” I exclaimed. My intuition had not betrayed me.
