The Peter Pan of Nerdery™Attended a “gishiki” today at my dojo - this is where new 1st dan black belts are awarded rank. There is a BB candidate program which lasts for several months beforehand where the black-belts-to-be are put through their paces - the gishiki is essentially a choreographed “show” where the skills are demonstrated to other BB’s (including me) and a decent sized audience of friends and family.
