Shetani@Squika asked for cinnamon buns instead of cake for her birthday this year. Would you believe this was my first time baking using yeast? I was a little intimidated by the prospect, but this dough is way easier to handle than pie crust!
I followed a recipe for the buns and whipped up my own coffee glaze instead of the recommended cream cheese frosting, to better suit Mika's tastes.

I went apple picking and baked my harvest into a pie. It was my first time doing both. The orchard was so peaceful to walk through with friends. The pie looks homely and tastes absolutely delicious - exactly what I was going for on both counts!
I was going to throw some brown bananas into a smoothie and hope for the best, but my friend suggested I make banana bread. Not bad for a first attempt, I'd say! I don't own a proper bread tin, hence the cake shape. Of course, I had to dress it up for the season just a tad.
Yesterday's Camp Chimera point task was to come up with our own Camp Chimera themed cookie recipe, and we were awarded 5 extra points for actually baking it. I had the perfect recipe in mind, but the last couple times I made it, I totally messed it up, so I was feeling really discouraged about trying. @Squika offered to help me out, and with her assistance, they came out perfect! Been a while since you peeked into #ShetanisKitchen, eh? I baked this for a friend's birthday. A simple vanilla cake topped with homemade frosting and strawberries, to be sure, but it was pretty well enjoyed! It's just not a birthday unless you have cake. πβ
A friend showed me a link to a recipe a while back, I had (almost) all the ingredients in the house, so I just made it. Love it when that happens.

Butternut squash risotto out of #shetaniskitchen this past week! Can you believe this was my first time cooking with butternut squash? I totally got to channel my inner witch, hunching over a big pot while stirring a fragrant bubbling orange concoction π
I was invited to a cat themed costume picnic over the weekend but got too overwhelmed and backed out. I decided to go through with baking the cookies I had planned anyway. It's okay to do nice things for yourself sometimes! The 3 flavors are sugar cookie, autumn spice, and chocolate. They're Pusheens because it turns out I don't actually own a regular cat shaped cookie cutter.
