Striped T in action! Unfortunately, I only thought to take a pic after a long day followed by 2.5 hours of dancing, but I think it still looks cute.

Oh, and I thrifted the skirt as well!

I nearly missed out on #SecondhandSeptember altogether because I was staying over at Mum’s. But I fitted in a visit to a couple of shops after my dentist appointment today.

I got an amazing, bright Autumn colours, comfy cardigan from Joe Browns; and the brown and teal velvet owl pattern skirt from White Stuff I admired when it was in their shop. I didn’t need a skirt enough at the time to spend ££ on it, but a secondhand bargain is hard to resist.

Just before September ends, I'd like y'all to know that I managed to feed my horizontal stripes addiction with two thrifted items this month.

If ever you needed something to illustrate why it’s “Reduce. Re-use. Recycle “ this article will do that https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2024/sep/24/where-does-the-uks-fast-fashion-end-up-i-found-out-on-a-beach-clean-in-ghana

Shopping secondhand can’t cure this problem, not in the face of the fast fashion deluge. And most of my secondhand shopping friends are looking for quality clothes that will last, not fast fashion labels.

Vintage in Vogue as London Fashion Week Embraces Second Hand Style.

With research showing that 65% of the UK population wear second hand clothing, London Fashion Week has embraced the fashion shift to a circular model by putting on a ‘Style for Change’ show.

Organised by Oxfam, who have a vast online collection of second hand clothing, celebrities including Kola Bokinni and DJ Vick Hope donned the catwalk in preloved gems.

Hope said, “It definitely feels like there is a real shift happening, where people are finally seeing how fabulous secondhand shopping is, particularly preloved clothing,”

“The beauty of shopping in places like Oxfam is that you never know what you might find and it’ll be completely unique; as well as being new to you, these clothes have stories to tell, and more life to live and be loved.”
