Looks like #Seaspan is getting ready to float the first Joint Support Ship. They moved it into a dry dock yesterday.
The two JSSs are being built at the #NorthVancouver shipyard at the foot of Pemberton Ave.
The multiplier effect is really cool:

Also, maybe it's not 20%, maybe it's 11%, maybe it's 35%. There's some math to do here, but domestic spending multiplies as the BC government would see an increase in personal income, corporate and sales taxes that would offset the higher cost when building ships here, instead of in China.

Two vessels under construction at the #Seaspan shipyard in #NorthVancouver
The red and white ship in the front is a Coast Guard offshore oceanographic science vessel. The grey ship behind it is a Canadian Navy joint support ship the HMCS Protecteur.
The Canadian Coast Guard Fisheries Research Vessel #SirJohnFranklin was tied up to the #NorthVancouver shipyard pier this week.
The vessel was built in #NorthVan by #Seaspan and after a rough start entered service with the Coast Guard in 2019.
