Quo Vadis - Ida Pan - 2015 North Vancouver
Ida Pan's 2015 piece in North Vancouver takes its title from the Latin for 'where are you going?', a quiet joke sited beside the railway, transit hub, and harbour bridge.
I’m home from the hospital to have the cyst removed from my left index finger by my plastic surgeon.
I’m grateful the minor treatment room moved recently so I didn’t have to go to the same place my foot surgeries took place. That’s where I developed PTSD so my entire body exhaled in relief once I saw the sign on the door. ☺️
I needed more freezing as usual but she was great at telling me what she was doing + asking how I was.

Keeping my hand elevated and dry.

Strangers (continued)
I then told her about Cates Park
And Lighthouse Park
At opposite ends
Of the North Shore.
Strangers bonding
Over a shared love
Of nature and trees.
Glimmers of light
Adding to our day.

Strangers
Yesterday I had a lovely
Interaction with
A lady on the bus.
She is visiting from Germany
And was returning from
A day spent in a forest.
We bonded over our
Love of trees.
She asked for
A recommendation
For a place to visit.
I first mentioned Lynn Canyon
And she said that’s
Where she spent the day
And it was wonderful.
