I have a several hour drive ahead of me. While I would rather read than listen, this seems like a good time for an audiobook. Anyone have a suggestion for a science fiction audiobook that's both a good story and a good listen? (Martin Freeman's narration of The hitchhiker's guide series is a solid example. He didn't just read it, he acted out each character.)
Any recommendations for #SciFi #books ?
For reference some recent (re,)reads:
- Ancillary series by Ann Leckie
- Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells
- Artemis by Andy Weir
- The Interdependency / Lock in / Dispatcher & others by John Scalzi
- Polity series by Neal Asher
- Lost stars (+ Genesis/Lost Fleet) by Jack Cambell
- Tales of the Kin by Douglas Hulick (OK, so not SciFi :)
Also, any audiobook services better for authors than #Audible?

"The Terraformers" is one of the best #solarpunk books I've read. It explores themes of balanced ecosystems, respect for all sorts of non-human life, love across boundaries, and organizing against oppression. It's. so. good.
And there's moose romance. Moose romance!
From science fiction visionary Annalee Newitz comes The Terraformers, a sweeping, uplifting, and illuminating exploration of the future. Destry's life is dedicated to terraforming Sask-E. As part of the Environmental Rescue Team, she cares for the planet and its burgeoning eco-systems as her parents and their parents did before her. But the bright, clean future they're building comes under threat when Destry discovers a city full of people that shouldn’t exist, hidden inside a massive volcano. As she uncovers more about their past, Destry begins to question the mission she's devoted her life to, and must make a choice that will reverberate through Sask-E's future for generations to come. A science fiction epic for our times and a love letter to our future, The Terraformers will take you on a journey spanning thousands of years and exploring the triumphs, strife, and hope that find us wherever we make our home. "Brilliantly thoughtful, prescient, and gripping.”—Martha Wells, author of The Murderbot Diaries
You know how you can go through books and give out five star reviews here and there, and then you encounter a beautiful, poignant, delicious story and realize that *this* is what you should have saved the five stars for?
Becky Chambers "A Psalm for the Wild Built" is beautiful, and made me happy. A true five-star-ass five-star of a novella.
