I just watched "Scarygirl".
It's an animated movie with a hat-wearing octopus with a moustache, what more do you need to watch it?! 😁
But seriously:
The story isn't crazy impressive, but fun and cute. Visually the movie is really beautiful and the character designs are as creative as of the likes of "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Coraline".
The "stuttering" animation style even looks a little like a stopmotion movie.
The characters, especially Arkie and her dad, are likable, and the voice actors (English) do a really nice job as well.
No clue how they manage to "drain the sun", but I'll accept that. 😁
But yeah, give it a try!
That said, the German name translates to "Arkie and the city of Light", and...for a change I prefer that one.

Finished watching **Scarygirl (2023)** and it is very meh from its rushed story threads and character development. What really bothers me is probably its mishandling of its potential and characters. The only redeeming factor is the parental figure and their so wholesome relationship which I maybe wanted more of. Not a bad film per se, just not worth it.
