Great Barrier Reef teeters on UNESCO's 'in danger' status after Coral Sea's hottest summer in 400 years
Scientists have been able to look at corals like tree rings to work out how warm the Coral Sea has been each summer across four centuries. They say the results reveal an alarmingly urgent need to turn around the trajectory of climate change.

The current Parliament and the Government of Australia are delusional if they genuinely think we are 'On track'.
Also taking this opportunity to remind everyone that Australia is still struggling to address pre-climate crisis 'legacy' issues like 'Crown of Thorns' 'Run off/sediment', seaway traffic, other forms of pollution, among other things, which were collectively responsible for deteriorating the initial 50% reef coverage since heritage listing.

Sadly the ‘#SaveTheReef ‘ campaign using the Great Barrier Reef as representative of all Australian and worldly coral reefs is a failure.
We need to raise public awareness of all individual coral reef and their various strategic, economic and environmental importances.

A healthy Great Barrier Reef is not compatible with global warming of 1.5°C or warmer.
Current world commitments, including Australia as major supplier of GHG producing resources, places projections to be 2.0°C or higher.
Australian Parliament need to stop greenwashing their commitment to #SaveTheReef, and make commitments that will lead to real results.
