For today's Saturday Showcase, barrel weave.

I first got into chainmaille when I found a craft stall selling it at my local market, and the first piece I bought was barrel weave (I'm bare silver).

I don't make it much because it's an annoying weave, but there's no denying it looks good!

I've been so distracted lately I've not done any chainmaille, and I'd forgotten about my Saturday Showcase posts. So, a week and and a day late... Japanese Weave.

Japanese weave can be quite a pain to make, but is a very striking weave with a lot of versatility. You can also see the way that warfare techniques informed weave designs, as Japanese's wide flat rings are well suited against the slashing attacks they commonly faced.

For today's Saturday Showcase: bead capture.

Using the same technique from the D20 cage I shared recently, you can create a string of captured beads, making for a really eye-catching look with tons of options between ring colours and bead materials.

I'm still working on finding beads with a sufficiently narrow size margin (get the size wrong and the beads will fall out) so I'm not making any for my store yet, but they'll be landing eventually.

For today's Saturday Showcase: a D20 cage pendant.

Using the same principle as bead capture bracelets, this traps a nickel D20 in rings that can still be opened so you can use the die!

For today's Saturday Showcase, JPL weave. It took a bit to figure out, but it was worth the effort. JPL is the most delicate looking and elegant weave I've encountered, and really stands out from other weaves. The only problem is I've not been able to find coloured rings at such a small size so I can't do multicoloured like I prefer.

For today's Saturday Showcase: Dragon Scale.

When I was first getting into chainmaille I saw this weave as the "I'll never be that good" weave. When I finally tried it, Dragon Scale turned out to actually be quite easy to make. But damn it looks good ๐Ÿ˜
