Black Beach
The fine volcanic sand is like ground glass, soft and almost frictionless when dry, hard as concrete when wet. Under the water, it becomes suspended particles with little traction which is what makes it so dangerous.
Having said that, it's undeniably beautiful.

Tomato Sunset
Öræfajökull, part of Vatnajökull, is at the eastern edge of an outwash plain, flat and featureless all the way to the sea. With the sun setting in the WSW, its red light hit the face of the glaciers head-on.
The glacier on the right is Svínafellsjökull with the peak of Hrútsfjall on its left. Above Skaftafellsjökull in the clouds on the left is the shadow of Hvannadalshnjúkur, Iceland's highest mountain, which is out of shot on the right.

Cyan And Pink
The early sunlight has yet to touch the ground. Night cold is still gripping the town, and the mountains wait for any warmth.
The promise of daylight is softly touching the clouds, colouring them peach and pink.
