The #Sarca is, as originally, a response to the copyrighted Sarc Mark being poorly supported and owned by the "not doing it any favors" sort.

The Sarca is free to use, easy to construct, and in HTML it screen reads like the popular "/s" indicator (excellent for compatibility).

I wanted to design something simple, recognizable, and available to all. Just don't claim it as yours; credit would be nice if anyone asks.

Or if you need a sound bite, "free with credit" works.

I mean I invented the Sarca. XD

I should probably update that HTML bit with what I'm currently using on my blog. I managed to eliminate the need for the space, IIRC. I'm not sarcastic enough to use it often. (EDIT: updated #Sarca HTML codes below in the replies.)

Obviously blogging is a bit different from using writing software, but I do use novel punctuation in my games, albeit for different purposes and to different extents depending on the tone. In some games, it's because it's a way of depicting a world where ambiguity is a solved problem; in others it can be as specific as a character quirk. Mostly I tend to only pixel up the ones I think I'll need for the font.
