I want to hate Sarah Winman's "Tin Man".
This novel of 3 people growing up in the 70s & 80s does not forget #AIDS. It is not a nice romance. It is not a simple tear-jerker. No gods, no heroes.
But it lacks the fear and terror I lived through. It sanitizes how society attacked and blamed queers, how queers attacked each other. They built death camps for us.
Everyone is wounded, forgiven.
The telling I dislike, but cannot forget.
