#52: Die größte Erfindung aller Zeiten! (feat. Heldendumm)

War die größte Erfindung aller Zeiten vielleicht doch nur ein Denkfehler? Diese Episode ist eine Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Heldendumm-Podcast und den Digitalen Anomalien. In zwei Episoden erzählen wir die Geschichte von Jan Sloot, einem Tüftler, der die größte Erfindung aller Zeiten gemacht hat. Zumindest glaubte er das bis zu seinem Tod. Jan Sloot war davon überzeugt, ein neues Kodierungsverfahren erfunden zu haben, mit dem sich Daten auf geradezu irrwitzige Weise verkleinern ließen. Damit hätten die Daten eines ganzen Spielfilms auf eine halbe Schreibmaschinenseite gepasst. Jan Sloot war von seiner Idee so überzeugt, dass er auch andere davon überzeugen konnte. Und die investierten viel Geld in das Werk des Erfinders. Im Heldendumm-Podcast machen wir uns auf die Reise und zeichnen das Leben von Jan Sloot nach. I assembled my first #SuperDeformed this past weekend: the #SDCS #Zaku II (MS-06F). I am unironically impressed; this thing came with more surface detail and accessories than the 2020 HG Zaku. It even included a foil sticker for each weapon camera and a fantastic foil sticker + clear plastic piece for the mono eye.

Good News! I found spare parts for both my new G-Base kit & my G-3 w/ the busted neck! = D

My less-than-great planning on a previous SDCS project left me w/ almost an entire spare frame. I swapped out the feet on the new one & the neck on the old one. I even found a polycap to replace the old plastic bead that weakened the old neck & led to its failure. = )

Yesterday was fun...

After a bit of waiting (P-Bandai's turnaround times are generally kinda' long), I Finally got my hands on the HG Gundam Mk.II Real Type Vers I've wanted since last year... & Yet Another SDCS Gundam. = )

Then the head of the little SD Gundam I use to help w/ my poses fell off. The neck joint failed shortly after I posed it for the photo. -.-

In the end, I feel this worked out better than I was expecting.
- I got a nice kit out of it.
- I have an idea as to how I want to attack the details of the much larger/expensive MG Barbatos kit.
- The paint I used for the metallic black is a basic craft paint cut w/ Createx 4012 Reducer. It's holding up far better than expected despite being uncoated.

All in all, a good outcome for what started as an expendable test piece. = )

SD (Super Deformed) Gundam kits are, by their nature, exceptionally small and relatively cheap. This made for the perfect base to test out paints & paint ideas. It was a lot of brush painting but I need the practice.

Bonus: The SDCS line of kits are just fun models to make. = )

The basic plan was for this to be a paint test.

I was lucky enough to be gifted a Master Grade (1/100 Scale) Gundam Barbatos kit. I love the design but I wanted it to look more royal than the base vers. Enter the much smaller & easier to find SDCS Lupus Rex. I could test ideas on it w/out much worry. = )

Alrighty! I've finally found some pics that'll work for this so...

Here's my painted up SD Cross Silhouette Barbatos Lupus Rex. = )

I kept things "simple" in that I didn't radically change the colors. I shifted them down to a metallic dark blue and a darker red. The yellow was hit with an antiqued metallic gold mix I use on stuff.
