The nearly total abortion ban in Texas 9 months before Roe was overturned has raised the death of Texas women while pregnant by 56 percent compared to just 11 nationwide , a new investigation of federal public health data finds.

“There’s only one explanation for this staggering difference in maternal mortality,” said Nancy L. Cohen, president of the GEPI. “All the research points to Texas’ abortion ban as the primary driver of this alarming increase.”

“Texas, I fear, is a harbinger of what’s to come in other states,” she said.”

Since Texas' #SB8 went into effect in September 2021, There have been dozens, but more likely hundreds of articles just like this, even verbatim calling #TheSatanicTemple the "last, best hope" for abortion rights

They have pulled in unknown hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax-exempt donations + even more in merchandise sales as some #Satanists but mostly desperate people and partisan liberals look for some way to stick it to reactionaries. Liberals especially know that leaning into a #SatanicPanic will really piss off those they hate.

But then after boosting the Temple, no journalists ever circle back around to what actually happened, if anything.

This is how the grift works: the news orgs and reporters get their clicks, TST gets its attention and money, and no one else gives a shit what really happens after that.

California flips Texas #SB8 to use it’s dubious proposition to allow almost anyone to sue anyone in the chain of various gun related crimes. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-01-01/californians-will-soon-have-their-chance-to-sue-the-gun-industry
Californians will soon have their chance to sue the gun industry

As of Jan. 1, Californians can sue anyone who makes, distributes or sells guns in violation of state laws. Here's how the new law works.

#intro ! I do Reproductive Justice and Immigration work in Texas right on the border in an amazing community called the Rio Grande Valley. My work involves organizing around different structural oppressions that affect Latinx/ Immigrant/Texans access to healthcare like abortion care.

State sanctioned policies like #SB8 and #immigration enforcement programs that include deportation, separation, and surveillance commit violence towards our communities.

I'm also an #abortion storyteller♥️🍄
